So, I just tried to use one of those cool warranties that you are sold when you purchase a new or used vehicle from a dealer.  You know the ones I am talking about; the super special window coating, the road hazard plan, and the “bumper to bumper” extended warranty plan.

Well, I did purchase the road hazard plan because it was a pretty good deal.  It offers me total replacement of a tire, if it is punctured or a replacement rim if the rim is bent.  This is good up to the life of the car or $2500, which ever comes first.

Well, I tired to use it this week, but the office was closed, and it was a Friday.  And, you need to have pre-approval before taking your car to the shop to have the flat fixed.  In my case, I had what appeared to be a screw that had penetrated my tire.

Well, although I could not reach the warranty company, I decided to take the car in for an oil change and have them look at the tire.  Well, it turns out that the screw was just in between some of the tire tread; the screw did not puncture the tire.  So, I did not get to use my trust tire warranty this time.  The lesson I learned is that if you want to use this plan, you need to plan to have the flat tire, so that you can call ahead of time and get approval to have the tire fixed.  Yah, right.  Hopefully I did not waste my money.
