Core Courses
OMGT 6123 – Quantitative Methods
Professor: Dr. Cook
Semester Completed: Fall 2008
Course Description: This course primarily builds off an undergraduate statistics course for the first several weeks covering topics such as mean, median, mode, standard deviation, and variance. The course then moves into more advanced statistical concepts such as distribution, variances, understandings the pitfalls with statistical analysis and then moving the interpretations of the mean and proportions of two populations. You will also learn about goodness of fit and conduct some simple linear analysis to wind up the course. The overwhelming majority of the work in this course is quantitative in nature. You will be given self directed homework problems which will be indicative of the material found on quizzes and tests.
Quizzes and tests: When I took this course, there were quizzes that were delivered via Blackboard, so open book and open note, but they were timed, which did not give you a lot of time to look through the book for the answer, so you need to know the material. In addition, you will need to enter your work into a text box on Blackboard, which takes the majority of your time during the quizzes. As for tests, there was a mid-term and a final, which is proctored and written (not delivered via Blackboard).
